As the appraisal season winds to a close, the eventual opening up in the job market in the coming months may see a wave of resignations across corporate India, with many employees looking for change, suggest the findings of a new survey.

Companies may need to adopt more flexible work policies, including remote and hybrid work options, to retain talent.
Causes of the Wave of Resignations

  1. Remote Work Preferences: Employees who have adapted to remote work may be unwilling to return to traditional office settings, prompting them to seek opportunities with companies that offer remote or hybrid work models.
  2. Better Opportunities: Increased demand for skilled professionals in certain sectors has led to higher salary offers, enticing employees to switch jobs.
  3. Desire for Career Change: Some employees are leaving to start their own businesses or freelance careers, inspired by the changing economic landscape.

The wave of resignations represents both a challenge and an opportunity for companies. By understanding the underlying causes and proactively addressing employee needs, businesses can not only mitigate the impact of resignations but also create a more resilient and attractive workplace for current and future employees.

 Salary, career growth main drivers
Salary and career growth are critical drivers of employee satisfaction, retention, and attraction. By offering competitive compensation and clear opportunities for career advancement, employers can create a motivating and fulfilling work environment.

  1. Importance of Salary: Competitive compensation can boost motivation and productivity, as employees feel adequately rewarded for their contributions.
  2. Importance of Career Growth: Providing career growth opportunities helps retain employees who might otherwise leave in search of advancement elsewhere.
  3. Invest in Employee Development: Invest in comprehensive development programs that not only enhance skills but also prepare employees for future leadership roles.

While higher salary (23%) still remains the No. 1 factor prompting employees to look for a change; professionals are increasingly prioritising learning opportunities and skills growth with 21% of the respondents in the survey citing it as a reason to seek a change followed by career advancement at 20%.
